We all have different ways that things come to us. Those of us who are very fortunate just have a way of being in the right place at the right time for the right opportunities to fall into our laps. Others of us have to work fairly hard to keep pace. Still, others can use the power of prayer to access greater power. If there's anything I know from my experiences, my reading, and in communicating with others, it's that we all have our way. It's no different with learning. Some of us learn from books. It's enough to read about someone else and learn of their experience. Others have to see it for themselves - so to speak. For others, there's just no other way but the hard way.
For me, it's the hard, hard, hard way - almost all the time. The blessing is that I've developed some really thick skin and a high threshold for pain. So, hurt doesn't hurt as much, but it certainly gets my attention. Allow me to share two such situations with you. Maybe you're the type who learns from reading about the experiences of others. And, so, you will not have to deal with some of the same mess. And, if you do, just remember that you probably don't have it worse than disgraced cyclist Lance Armstrong.
Pissed-off Ancestors
Since my mom divorced my dad in 1991, we have had very little communication with that side of the family. My aunt, bless her sweet heart, has done all she can to reach out to us but it is quite difficult because it's been 20 years. Facebook has allowed us to retain some semblance of family connection, but not much. Well, as part of my spiritual practice, I have been sending money to my dad's family via the altar. Both grand-parents have passed and I have learned of a great-grandmother.
Well, one day I was asleep and became conscious of my presence at a paternal family function on the astral plane. I was there, along with my son and other family members. After a few minutes, I noticed that my son was missing. I thought - where could he have gone? I got the sense that the family knew exactly where, but were not telling me. So, I was quite upset. I thought - this is my family (albeit I didn't know these people) and they are holding my son. So, in my anger and upset, I approached some of the men in the family to inquire about my son and demand (or rather petition for) his return.
I made my impassioned plea to them, almost brought to tears by the feeling that family would be so cold as to take my son away. Then, someone (probably a great grand-dad or great-uncle) gave me a look and then kinda' pointed his head at a picture of Jesus on the wall. I assured him that I believed in Jesus and that what they were doing could be likened unto what the soldiers did with Jesus - taking him away from those he loved and those who loved him.
This got them to thinking a bit, as I rarely see people express emotions there like we do here, except as instinct or raw desire. After that, I awoke from the experience a bit upset but willing to look at the experience to see what was in it.
I discovered that I had not been honoring Jesus Christ or Christianity (which is the family faith tradition) enough. All of my work with other Gods, angels, and ascended ones was seen to be of little effect in their lives, which was quite poor judging from the environment in which they lived. They likely thought that if they had Jesus' help then things would turn around for them. Truth is - I was concentrating more energy on my maternal family, because those were names I knew and people with whom I was familiar. I had neglected my paternal side a bit and they sought to use the only methods they knew - spiritual "kidnapping" and "blackmail" to resolve the issue.
I had the Bible on the altar before I moved, but never placed it there after moving. So, I immediately grabbed the Bible, wrote a prayer inside, and put it up. Then, I sent them cleansing light, blessings and money. This was not in response to the kidnapping, so much as in response to my ignorance at having neglected them. I also made it clear that such tactics could not be used in the future or there would be hell to pay.
At times, I am hesitant about sharing stories like this, because I know this kind of thing is scary to some people. Thing is - you gotta' break some eggs to make a cake. And, Edison had to discover 1,000 things that were not the light-bulb in re-discovering the light-bulb. That's life...at least for some of us. We wouldn't have the lessons if we didn't go through it.
The Use of the Images of Gods, Angels, and Ascended Masters
As a graphic designer of 15 years, I decided to do a few contracts for some spiritual friends. As friends, they took advantage of lower rates, but I was determined to work just as hard (if not more) in completing the projects. Well, one client wanted a particular angel's name affixed to his logo and the other wanted me to re-do a logo featuring an ascended master. Well, all went well with these two projects. The logos were amazing and the clients were happy.
Then, each client asked me to affix the logo to their products. Well, things started to go downhill from there. I offered the same discounted rate and promised myself I'd work just as hard. That was four to five months ago. One client wanted the logo affixed to a t-shirt and wanted the t-shirt loaded to his website. No matter how hard we (mostly I) tried, I just couldn't access the administrative account. Then, when I did, I learned there was a second administrative user-name and password. The hosting company was perplexed, because the user-name and password they had on file is the one they would give us each time. I must have tried 30 times. Nothing worked!
It was in dealing with my second client that I figured things out. They wanted product labels for about twenty different products. I said, "O.k!" Well, the computer started breaking-down, it wouldn't connect to monitors, e-mails got lost - everything that could go wrong did. After spending a little over 40 hours on the project (wanting to keep my word), I finally said - "Wait a minute. Something DEFINITELY isn't right." Then, it hit me. Maybe this deity doesn't want to be featured on a product label and is blocking all attempts at it. So, I decided to reimburse their money and share the lesson with them.
Thing is - all other jobs were completed with relative ease. These were the only two that I couldn't manage to complete. And, every-time I approached them, I'd feel weird and uncomfortable. I thought it was just me being lazy or getting more frustrated with every attempt. Now, I know better. You'll notice that no one in corporate America uses a deity on their logos. Even Hermes brand uses an "H" or a horse and driver for its logo - not Hermes. So, let this be a lesson to all of you - don't put deities, the names of angels, words of power, or celestial scripts on anything that you are selling. And, don't align yourself with anyone who uses such as a logo, unless you are certain they received permission. It's kinda' like someone putting your likeness on their products. You wouldn't want that. So, the gods don't want you saying that they endorse you or your product either. Lesson learned!
